PROJECT ROOM
Privacy.
What the desktop app reads, stores, and sends.
Your project stays local
Project Room opens the folder you choose. It reads the project configuration, source files and local data you ask it to inspect. Project variables remain in your local environment or ignored .env file. Activity and command logs are kept on your computer. Project Room does not operate a telemetry or project-data collection service.
Connections you initiate
Starting a service or test runs the command declared by your project with your user permissions. API requests, MCP calls, database connections and OAuth sign-in contact the endpoints configured for your project when you use those features. Product Chat invokes your installed Codex CLI or Claude Code; those providers may receive your prompt and repository context under their own privacy terms. Review the destination and credentials before connecting.
Update checks and downloads
Packaged Mac and Windows apps check GitHub Releases shortly after launch and then about every six hours. If a new version is available, the app downloads its update from GitHub. These requests disclose standard network information such as your IP address to GitHub. You can use Project Room without connecting a project to an external service, but packaged update checks still occur.
